SBI to slash interest rate on education loans

The country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) today reduced interest rates on education loans by up to 1 percentage point across various segments, a move likely to be followed by other lenders.

Education loans up to 4 lakh have become cheaper by 0.25 percentage point to 13.50 per cent against 13.75 per cent. However, loans between Rs 4 lakh and 7.5 lakh will be available at 13.25 per cent against 14.25 per cent, a sharp reduction of 1 percentage point. Loans beyond Rs 7.5 lakh will cost 0.25 percentage point less at 12 per cent. Under this education loan scheme, loans up to Rs 10 lakh for studies in India and up to Rs 20 lakh for studies abroad are given

At present, interest rates on education loans range from 12.25 per cent to 14.50 per cent, depending on their quantum and the duration. SBI is also offering a concession of 0.5 per cent on interest rates for loans given to female students.

Interest rate on loans given to students undergoing courses at premium institutes such as IITs, IIMs have also been cut by 25 basis points to 2 basis points over the Base Rate       Please  visit  our new  blog         click  here

BSNL launches low cost tablets

BSNL has launched three tablets including two 7 inch resistive screen based tabs with Android 2.3 operating system while the third tablet comes with an 8 inch capacitive touch screen. Made by Noida based company - Pantel, the tablets will be sold with discounted data plans from BSNL. The three tablets are priced at Rs 3,250, Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500.

Features The cheapest model is Panta Tpad IS 701r which is priced at Rs 3,250  Tpad has better specification than the Data wind's low cost tablet Panta Tpad is a WiFi only tablet with Android 2.3 operating system. It has a 1 GHz processor (ARM11 IMAP210) clubbed with 256 MB RAM.  The tablet also offers HDMI port through which it can be connected to a TV. Its 7 inch resistive touch screen comes with 800x600 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.

Some Useful Information about Postal Service in World

The earliest form of postcode was introduced in London in 1857 by Sir Rowland Hill, the inventor of the penny post.

The Post Office was reorganized in 1660 and Henry Bishop was made Postmaster General in the world

In 1688 the first post office of the Company Post was established at Bombay/Madras.

Mr. H P A B Riddle was appointed the first Director General of Posts in May 1854 in India

Dear Comrades and Colleagues,
All Central Trade Unions e.g. INTUC,BMS,AITUC,CITU, HMS,AIUTUC,UTUC,LPF, SEWA and All Federations and Organizations of Central & State Government Employees Teachers, and Employees of Central & State Public Sector undertakings have decided to organize one day All India Strike on 28th February-2012. The Postal JCA has decided to join the working class in its fight against anti-people & anti-working class policies of the Government. The tour programme of All India leaders is enclosed herewith for intensive campaign meetings at various stations. The Circle Secretaries and All India Office Bearers of the respective Circles will make arrangements to organize the meeting. General Membership of all unions should participate in the meeting.
Strike notice will be served to Secretary, Department of Posts on 10.02.2012 by JCA leaders. Lunch hour demonstration should be organized in front of all working places.
The Postal JCA Call upon the entirety of Postal , RMS and GDS employees to make the one day All India Strike 0n 28th February, 2012 a grand success.

Guide Line for Newly introduced Mail net work system

New operational arrangements, The existing mail offices have been classified into Level 1 (L-1) and Level 2 (L-2) mail offices. There would be 89  L-1 and 244 L-2 mail offices under the new set up

All L-1 mail offices will close direct bags for each other. An  L-1 office will also close bags for all L-2 offices as well as delivery post offices mapped/attached to it

All L-2 offices attached/mapped to it an L-1 office can close bags for that particular office. An L-2 office may also close bags for all other L-2 offices mapped to the same L-1 office if the need be. It will also close bags for all delivery post offices mapped to it.

An L-2 mail office would not close bags for any other L-1 office to which it is not mapped. Similarly an L-2 office will not close bags for any other L-2 office which is not mapped to the same L-1 office. However, there may be a situation where an L-2 office may require closing bags for an L-1 or L-2 office falling in the same circle or neighboring circle for transmission advantage. Circles should try to keep this number to the bare minimum to the extent possible. In all such exceptional cases, the circle concerned should furnish the list of such offices and destinations for which bag closing is required and seek approval of the Directorate.

Post Offices would prepare two kinds of bags (separate for unregistered and registered mail) for their parent mail office (L-1 or L-2 as the case may be), which would be as follows.

A bag containing TD mail to be delivered by post offices mapped to the same parent mail office  (for unregistered mail)

A bag containing non-TD (NTD) i.e. all mail other than TD , to be delivered by post offices not mapped to the same parent mail office (for unregistered mail)

A bag containing TD mail to be delivered by the post offices mapped to the same parent mail office ( for registered mail).

A bag containing non-TD (NTD) mail, i.e. all mail other than TD, to be delivered by post offices no mapped to the same parent mail office ( for registered mail)

Post Offices would continue to retain station article i.e. articles to be delivered from the same post office in case of both unregistered and registered articles

The new operational network would come into effect from 15th February, 2012.

 All Post offices will close:-

1.  2 bags to its own mail office-one bag with TD( articles deliverable by the POs of the own mail office L-1 or L-2) and the other with NTD( all outgoing articles).

2.  2 registered bags closed for TD and NTD on the above lines. They should be included in the respective TD and NTD bags closed.

3.  Account bag to the HO should be included in the TD bag.

4 BOs should continue to send all mails to the account office as per the existing instructions in the account bag closed, subject to further orders.
