First law commission chaired by Lord Macaulay

Chapter Art,1833 under which the first Indian Law Commission was constituted

14th October,1837 the Draft Code submitted to the Governor General in Council

The Second Indian Law Commission was Constituted  on 26th April 1845

Second Indian Law Commission on the Draft Penal Code submitted the Report in two part  1846 and 1847

Draft Code revised and presented to Governor General in Council in 1856

The code passed on 6th October,1860

Indian Constitution
The Constitution was enacted by the constituent assembly on 26th November 1949 

It Came in to effect on 26 January 1950

The Indian Constitution replaced the Government of India Act 1935

The drafting committee was appointed On 29 August 1947

A Draft Constitution was prepared by the committee and submitted to the Assembly on 4 November 1947

Indian Evidence Act
The Indian Evidence Act, identified as Act no. 1 of 1872, and called the Indian Evidence Act, 1872,

The act was proposed by  Sir  James Fitzjames Stephan

The Act has  eleven chapter and 167 sections

The Indian Evidence Act came into force on  1st September 1872

Criminal Procedure Code
The Criminal Procedure code came into force came into force on 1 April 1974

It was enacted in  1973

The Act consists of 484 sections, 2 schedules and 56 forms.

The Criminal Procedure Code extends to the whole of India except the states in India of J&K

The prevailing law on crime prevention and punishment is embodied in two principal statutes: the Indian Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1973.
